First, don't put a scorch on the bike. It will inhibit performance. and just sound loud. Not even a nice loud. just loud.

Second, I (personally) don't think the bike will be so lean from factory that it will burn the valves, but I don't know what the factory jetting is like. I ran my bike on Jo'burg jetting for about a month before I took it to Superbike for a dyno-run, and it was lean but not so lean as to burn valves. Still, that's just my lay opinion. You should ask your local dyno-expert  :)
I crash test all of my safety gear. Do you?

My DR would like to disagree. And I think it sounds nice. :)
Can't speak for a DRZ though...

As far as I know the stock DRZ 400 E pipe is not too shabby to start with. Priest may have got more performance out of his bike, but it is moer loud. Unpleasantly so. He prides himself in it. The performance gain he got is also not only down to the pipe - his DR has been on Julian's dyno as well...

It's different for each bike though - I personally wouldn't know what the performace gains would be on a DRZ with a Scorch but I will say this - if I had a DRZ I'd rather put a FMF Powercore 4 on. A Scorch is what, like R2 200?

The Powercore 4 is +- $200 plus 14% VAT (for bike parts) and let's guess under $100 shipping. At R7 / dollar that's R2 100 for a pipe that I would think is more suited to the DRZ.

My issue with scorch is that they stick the same pipe and same end cans on all their bikes. I really like them and I think their workmanship is great, but there's very little research that goes into a Scorch pipe, compared to say a Yoshi or an Akro or an FMF. You can get a decent pipe landed for between R2000 and R4000, depending on what you choose and from where. Rather save up and do that. My leo vince cost me R3600 in total, which is quite a bit.

That I'll agree with. :)

If I had R3.6k when my original zorst broke I would also have gotten a LeoVince. But all I had is R1800 which is what I paid for my Scorch back then.
As a "cheap" pipe I'd take it any day over say a Bosson, etc. Oh and mine is loud coz I told Rynard "I wanna be able to stick my arm down it." so there is no baffling what so ever.

I would not exchange the standard exhaust on the DRZ for a Schorch.

Personally I would think that you would be better of with the standard pipe and it might even
sound better.

Those Schorch pipes are the same that they put on all the bikes and I'm not so sure how much
research go into their pipes (if any).

Get a real good proper pipe or just keep it standard  ;)

It is changing, believe me, my bike was there last week for measurements. They are going to have more design shortly.

Do what makes you happy bro but I think you'd be better off with a FMF for almost the same price. Has more street cred too  :deal:

Doen maar die re-jet ding as jy die pyp opsit, ek het op my aircooled DR350 die airbox biekkie oop gemaak en gevind die ding is toe heeltemal te lean, het toe die jets(main EN pilot) gedoen en toe eers die volle krag ervaar wat die fiets kon bied, maak n groot verskil in bottom torque en response

If you have limited cash my opinion is you'd get better performance spending that money on a dyno tune (with the stock pipe) than you would by changing the pipe (but not working on the carb / jetting)

go ask Julian, see what he says - then ignore everything on this thread  :imaposer: :imaposer: :imaposer:
