He reckons it to be the fastest 60 to 90mph on dirt bike he has ever tested. It's a bit heavy for technical section, but bloody fast or real open rally space condition, what the rally is all about. The article is here:

Looks like it's time the Baja-dominant Honda XR650R boys get some real competition - Chris Blais and Cyril Despres, the names talk for themselves. 
The bike in the picture is a 6speed 710 that KTM has been using to try win the BAJA for the past 2 years.Note the RH drive chain, same as 640/660,not new 690.The 690 did blow up before mile 120.
In Dakar the KTM factory teams have lots of new engines to squeeze into their bikes at the end of the day, in Baja you have to keep going on one motor

Like Ducati at the isle of man, they almost always blow up. Trust on the Japanese to build motors that last, maybe not the most sexy or fastest excotica but they go the distance.
