Jimmy Lewis reviewed it last year.

He reckons it to be the fastest 60 to 90mph on dirt bike he has ever tested. It's a bit heavy for technical section, but bloody fast or real open rally space condition, what the rally is all about. The article is here:

Looks like it's time the Baja-dominant Honda XR650R boys get some real competition - Chris Blais and Cyril Despres, the names talk for themselves.  8)

Remember the days when all you needed was one of these babies to win the Baja 1000

They dominated then came the XR 650's.

+1 and at one hell of a rate!
It's a friggen motorcycle, it's not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The windnoise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you shit your pants every now and then. Suck it up. -- Scary Gary MC

The bike in the picture is a 6speed 710 that KTM has been using to try win the BAJA for the past 2 years.Note the RH drive chain, same as 640/660,not new 690.The 690 did blow up before mile 120.

In Dakar the KTM factory teams have lots of new engines to squeeze into their bikes at the end of the day, in Baja you have to keep going on one motor  :D Like Ducati at the isle of man, they almost always blow up. Trust on the Japanese to build motors that last, maybe not the most sexy or fastest excotica but they go the distance.

The old school XR still has what it takes

Then they went to CRF 450's which I did not think would work but they did
