This was taken at the foot of the Nqweba Dam in Graaff - Reinet.
Loads of Acacia thorns around there so watch your ..Tread ??!! :o

My grandparents used to stay at the council house to the right of the dam right up near the fence where the gate is. Great fishing there, especially in summer 8)

Pretty cool place and im sure there are some other really cool tracks to drive there!! Didn't have time to fish so next time ill be sure to give it a try !

I haven't seen it in flood yet, but I have seen it bone dry (we could walk across the whole dam) and like it is in the pics I posted up.

Down below the dam wall there are hundreds of dassies, and the excrement lying there in sheer volume is unbelievable.

There is a lot of cacti at the bottom too, the type that jab you right through your plakkies. Once while hunting in Alicedale we came across little prickly thorn plant dingetjies that my dad called kaatjies. They had these hooks on the ends of the thorns that you had to burn to get out of your skin. Sorry for the hijack... ::)

Nice first long  trip to " 7weekspoort" with lekka companions.  Like the guys said on the trip ... my bike is nog lekker "natnuut"... with only 450 km on the clock.
The best places are yet to be discovered!!!!!!!!!
