IF they do end up implementing the toll fee system for bikes, or lets say when they do! My i suggest a drive once a week we all get together as many of us as we can possibly get and then ride in single file one behind the other occupying and many lanes as possible, no lane splitting no riding next to each other take up as much of the road as possible.

Lets make a point that riding bikes is a time saver for us and the cagers reduces carbon cheaper on fuel, we should not have to pay Toll fees and we should not feel like we can not lane split.

Just a thought

that is certainly one of the options we are looking at.

our teams' decision is to to stop urban tolls for all road users, that is first prize. if, for whatever reason we do not get this right, our second prize is to stop urban tolling for bikers.

all that are on facebook, please join http://www.facebook.com/TOLLGATES as well - this groups membership has grown from about 3000 to 4600 in less than a week I understand - facebook can be very powerful, as it is similar to viral emails

Can we set up a distribution group via pm or better via email? This way we'll know what events are happening.

great initiative!

May I suggest someone prepare a SINGLE graphic, showing taxation levels just 10 years ago, and taxation levels now...

This would show that new taxes are constantly being mooted; such as all guest houses will shortly have a doubling in rates, I see toll fees as a taxation, rather than a 'usage' fee, and there are 2 or 3 other NEW taxes all being mooted or implemented.

Sometimes a picture is wortth a thousand words!
Good luck

Just did a quick calculation and if the reduced toll fees using an e-tag are considered, it will have the same effect as increasing the fuel price by 40% for cagers and 48% for bikes (on average)

Surprising how well many people accept this...... :eek7: ??? :o

Well, over and above the arb citizen who will be paying this ridiculous added user tax on top of the existing taxes all sorts ( not to even mention mlungu sin tax!), all small businesses are in for a huge shock.
Any delivery or service vehicle used will also be contributing to this involuntary.
In fact all businesses will have to up their cost to client to cover this which in turn will translate into higher prices for everything paid for by consumers which in turn will only benefit you know who.
The taxthief/ANC by way of the added income from even more VAT.
So this is not just 24c/km or whatever for us bikers or 40c for cagers, the big picture and the knock on effect of this is way bigger than that.
Whether for bikes, trucks, cars and even taxis, itís a f@cking shame!
Weíve paid for this sh!t already man!
This typical and age old apathetic Safrican attitude of just taking it up bum AND paying for it must stop.
Iím in with any action you okes plan but due to a bit of a hectic period at work I might not always be available to join whatever action you guys plan but keep us all informed of anything planned.
Me, Iím gatvol, poor and demoerín enough to commit to more radical actions that just stickers and banners.
Iíll be bringing matches.

Hi Veldbrand

That is how we all feel. We are busy contemplating what we can do about it.

And we will certainly keep everybody in the loop

I think urban commuter route tolls are wrong. however national roads etc tolls , with an escape route are good. IMHO

Agreed. But if the alternative routes are not maintained then we have problems rearing their heads here too. ??? ???

Bloemfontein will soon be tolled on all it's N routes... not fair at all.
I will support the urban no toll but if it is successful the campaign MUST continued to remove ALL tolling.
I still feel a Concourt case can be made on the freedom of movement right when applied to road tolling in general.
This right has no subclauses or other impediments like some of the others. It is plain and clear that we have the right to free and unrestricted movement! This avenue should be explored. :deal:

Agreed. but we starting at a point and moving forward from there.

The Gauteng urban tolls will be for the benefit of SANRAL, the same guys that are currently screwing up the reast of the road network in SA.
The above is valid for N Road Tolls as well, they are also operated by private companies on behalf of SANRAL and maintenance is also falling behind imho. So they are also not being operated as originally intended. If the No2Toll is valid for urban roads then it is valid for all roads. Maar ek sal saam kom toi toi. :mwink:

i just realised, by the way that SuperDavexlv750r put my forum name, that i seem to be a militant oke. Not at all guys, just had enough of this kak, the same as 99.9999% of all saffers. The diff is that some of us are actually doing something about it. I guess this is a kind of war. We are fighting for our, and our families rights here.
