This cutting has an interesting formation. Coords are in the picture (S29 15.759 E31 02.232)
It was down next to the Umvoti River at only 240m above sea level.
I suspect we were down in the "natal Metamorphic Province" the bits of unweathered rock looked to me like gneiss - nice big crystalline structure.
But the white bits looked a bit "quartzy" with an extremely fine grained structure - no visible crystals.
My first though were narrow acid dykes or sills, but the white bits did not seem to me to be volcanic.
What's going on here ?
