Find a location competition.
« on: August 27, 2011, 06:22:47 pm »
Admins, please PM if I am out of line here---------------
Competition, 4 riders who ride with cameras who is up for a year long challenge. 1 from each province, max 6 competitors.
Vendors - feel free to join with prices for the winner.
Idea - I give you a assignment ie: Bike under tree. You have one week to submit a pic of your bike, and only your own bike, under a tree. All pics has copyright, so please do not google pics.
Every week a new challenge, and it will be posted on Monday mornings.
Please take note - this competition will get harder as the year go on, and I will rustle up prizes one way or the other, winner on a open poll, so take awesome pics.
PM ideas for challenges to me, as well as any info required,
To keep it fair, the first challenge will be posted as soon as we have the entrants, as well as their bikes. Don't want to challenge a superbike to be inside a flooded river or some.

Everybody needs to submit 1 pic each, so that six pics a week, plus negative/sarcastic/constructive/kak replies from 365 dogs per week, then the tread will be extremely huge and people will loose interest quickly.

Maybe if there is more interest we can up it to 10. Will see how it goes during the week, when the dogs are done riding and back in the office with time to catch up on the forum. Weekend is slow.

Anybody interested. As long as they remember they will have to do one pic every week for a year. Some might be easy, some might be hard to find. You can just not make your own ie if it a pic containing the number 2363, you can not write it on a piece of paper and take the pic. It must be an existing number. PS: that will not be the number. So a pic of your bike and a boat, people at coast should be easy to do, where gauteng will have to search, bike at strip club - gauteng should be easy, and somebody in putsonderwater will struggle to do that.

1 pic per week is maybe a bit much

but I think that if you posted 2 topics per month and then had deadline for those two topics at end of that month , you may get better responce. Also will free it up for more people to enter.

Then make it a monthly competition with 1 finalist per month. At the end of month 12 the 12 best pics can be placed on a poll to select the ultimate winner.

or something like that.

I for one do not have the creative juices and/or time to go and shoot a competion entry photo once a week. But keeping the 2 topics for the month in the back of mind while out on rides means that I will try to take a pic while out on a ride.

We are in the end a bike forum and not a photography forum.
