Cylinder change.
« on: August 27, 2011, 11:12:42 pm »
Hi guys,

I scored the cylinder (ja I know..) of my 2009 EXC 450 and have now replaced it but: I need oil for it. The spec book tells me its SAE 10W50 required, but my question is what do I use if thats not availible? I can get 5-40 synthetic or 15-50 where I am. Any bright ideas or suggestions?  :-\

Also any clever tricks in terms of getting the bike on its feet again would be most welcome at this stage :)

Thanks!

Neil

15W50  :thumleft:

that 5W difference on the bottom will make no difference

i would think that the 50 is better than the 40 as it is a race bike that lives a hard life in the hot side

as always make sure the bike is hot before you ring its necks

when you doing a race again ???

Thanks Bobnob. :thumright:

I would like to do the Abu Dhabi Desert challenge next year. This year has been a whitewash for me. Need to do some work for a change. Now I need to lose weight again and get fit.

We are planning a little group trip from Lima down to Iquique in Chile (Myself, 3drink and Mrs BB on 3 bikes), and then up into the Bolivian desert in about 4-6 weeks from now. That should be a pretty cool 6-10 day jaunt.
