I've never had any 'professional' training and it's about time I think.

Should be interesting to see how many bad habits I've accumulated over the past 20 years.

That was fun, learnt quite a lot.  :)
Note: make sure you dont run out of petrol on the technical stuff. The bike will drop. :-[

Haven't had so much fun in ages!
I think my AT's back wheel is still spinning!
Oh glorious glorious mud..

I do believe I was in the weaker group - or maybe the AT's just vastly superior to those Beemers.  ;D

The best was when one 3-month biker N00b on a 1150GSA (which he kept dropping) asked me when I was going to upgrade to a BM! Funny guy..
From there on I made sure I was always in front of him to roost him well and proper on every possible occasion!

Without wanting to sound blasé about it IMO it truly was a intro course and nothing more.
Well structured though with some excellent instructors who never let anybody exceed their level of skill.
Personally I was a bit bored at times and would have enjoyed more advanced exercises.
But in fairness it is an intro course after all. It teaches some really valuable techniques to beginners.
Especially proper weight distribution, clutch & throttle control as well as emergency braking.

An odd thing that came out of the introductions at the start of the day was that most n00b riders rates their own off-road ability (relatively) a lot higher than the "older" bikers...
Ignorance IS bliss after all.

I was in the other group to Mr Big & I assumed I was in the weaker group.  I was extremely pleased with the course and was not bored at all - in fact quite challenged.  I am new to this off tar stuff and naturally weight the wrong peg going slowly plus this standing up business & use the back brake is all new to me.  Broke my clutch lever in half & that seems a great unexpected inprovement when it comes to 2 finger clutch control.

I had a fantastic time, that's all I can say. Learnt a lot and I'd say my offroad confidence has doubled. Our group had a lovely little outride at the end as well that included more challenging terrain than what I'm used to, but was great fun!!

I believe it is worth the money but I wonder if it is compulsory to qualify for the weekend off-road training.  ???

I was at Refresher course at Zwartkops recently. Really helps me with my confidence! :)
