Anybody know these guy's?
« on: June 21, 2007, 08:14:17 am »
This makes for a bit of interesting reading, read form 4 to 7 to get the story. These guy's makes carbon tanks for the 950, but quality issue is rearing it's ugly head. Best laugh is post no:94.

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=231591&page=4

And it's about these tanks, and the legendary South African service.

I hope DTC sort this out $2000 is allot of money once their reputation goes down the tube it's over and done with business over there! The touratech long range tanks for the f650 dakar costs pretty much the same and it's not carbon fiber ;)

H,mmmm
The stuff looked very good, but yep in that market it must be "perfect" especially at that price.

Yep that post 94, he must know us, I see lots of "presence" from our old friend too.

It's tipical SA thing "hit and run" once you sold stuff, delete all contact details of client and make as if clients don't excist.

At least the TT tank for the Dakar carry aditional 30/40L not just 6L

Yip Michnus - having travelled extensively in Africa on work, I was suprised to find that most locals in other african countries consider white South Africans (in general) to be Hit-and-run shaisters!!  :o

This smacks very much of that! Who are these clowns? The photos on the Adventure S were taken at KTM Pro-Action in their parking lot! I wonder whether or not they are connected. Idiots! A sound concept but totally mis-managed. Doing it with a KTM logo on is bad enough - with a SA flag on the package it's criminal! I dont see this product with a Proudly SA logo on.

My blood boils when such uninformed bozos make the rest of us look like a-holes. >:(

This guy would never had air his discontent if they just replied on his e-mail, how simple can that be? Now an audience of 32000people at least is seeing this.

Additional it makes things more difficult for exporters because of the perception it creates, and can cause problems for companies like Kaoko and Camojo that is currently exporting and has a good name in the business.

Just a reply is all that was needed. And there is always 2 sides to the story, but in the end customers are king even though they stay in other countries. Like Welsh said if you want to play there, you need a perfect product

How big is that tank if it takes an additional 30/40 l?

well the story needs to develop a bit i reckon... terminal tom is however qa bit cagey i reckon...

also that kinda money for an additional 8 litres of fuel....thats crazy ...two used oil containers = 10 litres cost = free and easy enough to dispose of when done with em...

some ppl got to much dinero i reckon.

even if they refund they obviosly will not refund the duties etc etc

Several of you are going to have to learn some restraint of tongue. Check out post no 97.

Then apologise.

I have just read the full set of posts and I think you are being a bit harsh knocking these guys, and no, I don't know them from a bar of soap.

They have offered to refund the offended gent his cash. Sounds OK by me. In any event why are they responsible for duties charged in another country? The complaint about quality was valid and the defects should never have been allowed to pass through the system. Having said that I can honestly say that with carbon, carbon/kevlar and epoxy or vinylester resins heat can affect the product and it may well have been damaged en route or by the customer (the so called orange peel effect and gelcoat peeling). Without knowing the lay-up of the materials it's hard to comment or pass judgment. May even be a 2K paint lay-up. Anyway as I said they have offered a full refund, cannot fault that.

Personally I resent the remark about drunk South Africans. Some companies make and sell excellent SA produced products all over the world. Just saying.

Yes MJ some off us must.

I appologise unreservedly to all concerned :-[ I should have given you "die binne vet vat die boud" first - again sorry.

(I did say what I said prior to the # 97 post though - so dont be too hard on me)
I do mean what I said about the SA guys having a hit-and-run rep. It concerns me greatly.

It started at post 109 now it's post 152, and Simon posted after the bomb landed and this thread started this morning.

Yip the last e-mail was forwarded to the shipping agent, good and there it ends problem go away. Obviously Simon can't take responsibility for duties and customs. This guy's second gripe was the quality issue which can't be sorted by the shipping agent.

Like I said in a earlier post there's two sides to the story. Interesting how a simple e-mail can create so much trouble

I think a lot of people that commented here (and over at AdvRider) would have done themselves good to read the WHOLE thread from start to finish before commenting. Things are different when you start at the front.

BTW, Mich, what are you doing on the dark side?
