Car Drivers
« on: June 21, 2007, 01:45:58 pm »
What is it with people in motorcars? Only yesterday I was traveling on the R14 I think it is, that's the Krugerdorp highway going towards Krugersdorp (of course). I was merrily doing 120 on the right hand lane with two cars coming behind me at speed. In front of me, about 1000 meters in front to my left were two large trucks. I had decided to stay in the lane until I had overtaken them then move over to the left to allow the other two vehicles behind me who by this time where gaining on me at quit a speed. Needles to say the first one decided to overtake me on the left only to move across to the right while the other little twit decide heā??s goanna show me how cool he is and passes me to my left only leaving about an 1" between him and me. Needles to say I was ready to give chase and beat the grap out of him.  >:D I didn't, but next time I'll carry a gattling gun and mount it front of the bike and shoot the hell out of them. I'm tempted to buy a paint gun and mount it somewhere on the bike for quick access and any shoot them with it, or a bottle of pepper spray and at the next stop, spray the bugger with it. It's been awhile since I rode a bike and MAN, car drivers have become absolute demons. It's scary. Anyway, that's my bitch for the day. Until next time, drive safe.

they were behind you right?

"Own" your lane. When you ride alone keep to the left-hand side in the right hand lane, that is if you really want to sit there for a kilometer >:D

If you keep to the right people behind you will try to use the little space to pass - fact of life.

Okay I'll admit that the two trucks were a little away ahead, but at the speed I was going and having underestimated the speed these two cars were doing I thought these guys would slow down for a short period allow me to move over and then they could go and kill themselves somewhere else. I must say it scared the hell out me. When I drive a car and a fellow in front of me is within the speed limit and I want to overtake I'll tolerate it until I see it's save to move to the left to overtake. Maybe my testrons(not sure of the spelling) are dying and have more patience than I had when I was a wimp.  :)

Birddog, allways think and ride like a biker, not a driver. You are far more vulnerable than in a car. Exploit your advantages, which are small size, acceleration, and speed, but don't take them for granted.

Always be ready to evade, because no matter who's at fault you're the one who'll break and bleed the worst.

Take it from a grey beard - having more patience is a good thing ;)

Don't allow cars to overtake you, go faster. I know it sounds stupid, but I prefer to see them in my mirrors, than in front of me.

As the law states in SA, you are required to move over for a vehicle that is going faster than you, no matter what the speeds are.  The guy who went close to you was giving you a friendly reminder to move over for faster vehicles.  If they had time to go around you, you had time to move over for them.
