Ama Ride Ride - 1200GS
Plothond - KTM950
Ryno (Jaghond) - 1150GS
Poppipants - 1150GS
Groenie - KLR
Journeyman - 650 Dakar
I started early as it was the firt time in my life that I will be riding with proper riding boots and wanted to test it first.
Al I have say is I need to adjust the gear lever. Lot's of neutral/missed gears. In the end worked it out to shift with the side of the boot.
Early morning pics.
Arrived at River Side Mixer.
Had coffee and waited. Then waited more. Then begiining to doubt my reading ability and if the meeting place was not somewhere else.
While waiting, tried some creative phtography.
Then Popipants arrived. Had another coffee and we waited again.
Then Funacide and finally Zonk and the rest.
Three TA's
If you look carefully, you'll see a lonely Dakar as well.
Attie's blinged TA
A few brave souls opted for an early morning beer while most had coffee.
Ama, Zonk, Popipants and Attie (Camo bling to go with the TA :twisted
Finally time to start.
About 10km's later. First "Emergency Stop"
It was decided beforehand that no picture stops will be made.
First Shabeen.
We promtly wiped out the stock of beer in the shabeen.
The laughs and funny stories started early already.
Lot's of free advise was given not to do your business on the electrified fences. No one was in the mood for emergency mouth-to-mouth!
Time to leave.
Zonkelnut (I'll edit and post the pic again. Sorry.)
Groenie, ARR and Funacide
Another first for me. Pic on the go. Ryno is somewhere in that dust cloud.
Me riding sweeper, I had the luxury of making an "emergency pitstop" and then chase the pack again.
We then stopped for a group pic.
Who's gonna win? Honda or Katoom? At least Zonk is looking up!
A few kilometer's on was the next stop.
Biltong, droë wors and a new born plan of buying some meat and a grid and go braai somewhere.
Lot's of laughs once again.
Only Groenie.
BTW. Groenie's hip flask and cheap Mozambique brandy went down well.
Unfortunately me and Tim had to leave the pack here and return due to other commitments.
Tim opted for tar and I retraced the route taken. Did not want to chance my arm with the law and a stumpy tail Dakar.
Stopped at the first Shabeen. No stock. No customers!
Then a sad sight. Wnet to the playground of my birthday run. Three months later. What are we leaving as legacy to our children?
Anyway. Good to meet new faces. Ama Ride Ride, Popipants, Attie, Tim. Great bunch of people!
Sad I had to leave early.
Thanks everyone!
