Hello, this is the devils advocate here  >:D

"If you can afford a 100k + bike, then you can afford the price of 1,5 TKC80's on our little get-to-gether"

Bye for now
Your lifestyle team

Oooo jy reken :-[  I had to steal some of the old peoples pension money and squander my kids school fees to buy my bike. I really have a poor lifestyle.  ;) :D

Like Michnus said...

The missus and me went to our first and last GSC in 2005 for a go-and-look-and-see.  Its clear that BMW want the average joe's with average purses outa da GSC and keep it for the sandton gs curb and speedbump riders who blindly follows the BMW lifestyle and bible.

I will never forget that the waiters had been told to remove my half full bottle of red wine and also that Michnus and Metal Jockey had been told that BMW okes does not drink in the street but Kawa riders does. >:(

Yes when is the  wild dogs bash....

Jy maak seker 'n grap of julle drie lyk fo...n jonk.

In my geval was ek reeds by my 2de bottel rooi toe ons moes gaan opskep het vir aandete. Toe ek terugkom by die tafel is my wyn weg. Half vol KWV Roodeberg gone...missing. Pissed was ek beslis. Everyday after the ride in Loxton you need to go re-fuel, one unleaded pump in the dorp and 400 bikes, you can imagine you have to wait quite long.

Across the road form where all the bikes was parked there's a lovely small bottle store that sells the coldest Blacklabel pints, so to support local we got ourselves a bottle and sit in the street have this refreshing beer after a warm dusty day 8)

Okay so the police came by telling us they have a huge problem with drinking on the street with the locals and their papsakke, would we mind not sitting there the locals get restless. No sweat, so we say just another one or so and we are gone.

To cut a long story short, that evening at the bivouac, they made the announcement that BMW riders don't sit in the street and drink beers like Kawa riders. :hello: :thebirdman:

Do you see any problem here?

Dis nou waaragtig dof. Kyk nou na daai foto's, groot uitgevrete mans, rustig op die sypaaitjie met 'n bier. Wat is nou lekkerder as dit na 'n lang warm dag?
Ek sal my neefgoed moet waarsku, sy nuwe 1200 adv kom volgende week. Gaan die een in Kimberly haal. Vooitog die ou sien so uit na die GSC

What a pity. :(

The GSC is a really awesome event and a must do for all GS riders if you ever have the chance. Just because you can
I have been to them all and the socialising, riding, etc is fun.

Yes the price is steep, but you have to keep the rif raf out (kawa drinking poser riders!) >:D
Unfortunately, i will not attend this year as i feel that 800 people is alot, actually it is too much!

If i wanted to ride with 800 people, i would go do the Erzburg next year with Jabu69 >:D >:D >:D
I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are missing!

As a big GS fan the money to be paid is much to much. I attended 2 Challenges, was alot of fun but I can do alot of things with that kind of money.
For that price, no thanks!!

How de hell do you want to go on a AJS all models? >:D ;D

2005 R900........2006 R1300...........2007 R2500..............where do they live, inflation in SA is 6%?

It was a bumper year on bike sales for them, they know there are lots of okes that want to go, and they can only take 900 people to operate safely, good business practice, nail them on money honey.

Seriously you can't want to go for that kind of money, I guarantee you we can have a better event arranged in the Tranksei for example for a lot less than that, and you will go home with a happy chappy ;)

Spoke to Hein this morning. He claims BM did not make a profit, in fact they ran at a lose.  :-\

Loss/Profit, who cares. They are charging this price because they can.
It should come out of thier marketing budget, it sells bikes.

Agree with Shark and that is very difficult to believe, 900 people last year at R1300

R1 170 000-00 and you make a loss, just to feed them, pitch a tent and sponsor a R130 000 bike? don't think so.

In the end people like going to these events as is the same now with KTM's and Alfie's event and it's like attending a rally, good fun with like minded people and a few beers.
But cost will always be an issue.

I would like to just to go see the guy's ride the skills challenge it's an eye opener to see people enjoy and handle bikes like that. I wish we can get an event with more people with different brands to partake in a skill challenge.

I too attended the last 2 years events and was planning to do the same again this year, but sadly at R2500 I might just have attended my last GSC.

If I want to see someone handle a BMW well, I'll just invite sillystunt on our next hardcore DS ride.
