Another Sunday quickie - Bacela.
I bought new tyres for the S10 and had to put them to the test. I had an interesting route in mind, one that I did about 15 months ago with the Transalp. The road was then very kark and I thought it would be a good test ground for the new tekkies. Where we in for a lekka surprise.
The route were more or less from King William’s Town to Stutterheim (40km), from there to Toise (30km), then to Bacela (40km) where the road comes to an end. U turn there and backtrack our route to Henderson and then to Catchart (60km), and then back to King (90km).
Let the phodies do the talking.
Starting on gravel less than 4km from home.
Eastern Cape known for potholes
On route to Toise
Thanks Chrisl, me thinks the tekkies fit her just nice. Brand new stepouts, good for a couple of km’s.
From another angle
An old water-mill close to toise.
This one is for you, Trailrider.
Old station at Toise
On route to Henderson / Bacela
And the road started to deteriorate, from bad to worse.
The junction, left to Henderson, right to Bacela, for now we are heading right.
Some scenery towards Bacela
On top of the world
This road gave me a good workout. Loose rocks and wash a ways kept me quite busy.
It was worth the scenery though.
Left up, right a long way down.....
Bacela Police Station, not in use any more.
And here the road is closed.
Some scenery on route back to Henderson.
The great Kei river
Erosion
From there we came
More Kei river pix
River at Henderson
Who’s who....
At Cathcart we had nice Wagonwheel pies.
What an enjoyable day, could not ask for more.
Cheers, until next time.
