No not here yet,
But I see the European,s are getting them already and the demo,s are in the States, so lets see how long till we get them, 6 months later like the HP2,s?

When I had my scoot serviced at Lyndhurst Auto last week the word was that the first 1200ADV's will be here late in May, first 200-250 already sold, only 500 coming to SA this year, this amounts to 20% of the total production run for this year! Is SA GS country or what!
Mind you with our roads DS bikes are the way to go! :D  :D
If you can keep your head in the midst of all this confusion, you don't understand the situation!

Then they should move faster, than the HP2,s which seem to be sitting on the showroom floor.

I would not buy an HP2. It is a not a proper MX bike, and not a  tourer as the GS. For that price I can buy 2 new MX/Enduro bikes that weigh just over 110kg, and go play.

Welshie, I agree, the HP2 is not moving fast. It is a specialized bike like Bla Bla mentioned. Very pricy as well but believe me the 1200 Adv will go like "sweet cake". Tjek the record sales!

Best place to test a DS bike is South Africa, if we can't break them, nobody can!

It's official. The R 1200 GS Adventure will be here in two months' time. The launch date and pricing have finally been confirmed.

The official launch date is Saturday, 27 May 2006 - make sure you put that in your diary. You have a date, and she'll be waiting to meet you in BMW Motorrad showrooms across South Africa.

The base price will be R117 500 (incl. VAT), with ABS & Heated grips available as an option for R8 400 making the cost of a full spec bike R125 900 (incl. VAT). Unfortunately, ESA is not available.

The bike will be available in two colour options:
Alpine White non-metallic

White Aluminium metallic matt

In addition to the new engine technology, the motorcycle comes standard with the following features:

On-board computer
Large adjustable windshield
33l fuel tank
Integrated crash bars
Adjustable dual seat
Wide foot pegs
Knobbly Tyres
Pannier brackets (NOT PANNIERS)
Fog lights

The panniers and topbox can be purchased as accessories.

I like the one with a touch of red. They're the fastest!

Had a word with Matthew at Menlyn Motorrad earlier today. I though I was number 4 in the que, turns out I'm no 8, their first batch = 6 bikes, so I might have to wait a week oor so! Gonna be a long week!

They can sell from 27 May 2006!

Somehow it seems like all is not in place with those Tourance tyres fitted.

Gonna be spending alot of money on knobblies!  :(

Jaaaa, so there's a 1200 ADV at Hamman Motorrad, but they don't want to show it to anybody. Still in the crate.  They said thay could lose their dealership if it's unveiled before the release date.

Quite sure. The sticker on the crate said "1200 ADV". The big one next to the mechanic's area. The cardboard is still around it. And the store owners are very hush-hush about it.

Best to just walk up to it and open the box. Please post the results...  :D
