They are completely smooth underneath so should theoretically transmit less energy to the mounting points, unless you bottom out hard.

We do !

Now 3 trips out of three I have come back with damaged mounts.

A do feel lucky, but hey, I ordered it in December of 2005 already. So the waiting has been long and hard.

All I can say guys, is that the bike is awesome. You can read the test ride report on the bmw motorrad website. I can agree with everything in that report.

The bike feel very light, and handles amazingly on dirt and in sand.

Those of you still waiting for yours, its all worth the wait!! You will not be disappointed!!! :D

I test rode the GSA this weekend but I don't think I need to make a full report. Enough has been said already methinks.

One thing worth mentioning though. My wife says the pillion seat is not as comfortable on the GSA as on the GS. She started to complain after only 20km
The foam stuffing seems to be thinner and there is a hard ridge around the edges of the seat that causes some discomfort. The grabrails also come out too far and she feels like she's holding onto a braai grid.

I am now considering buying a aftermarket seat for her or getting a GS seat and having it covered to match the rider seat

Maybe it just needs breaking in (I mean the seat).

What were your impressions LS. How was the suspension offroad compared to the 1200GS?

Unfortunately I cannot comment on it's offroad abilities as I only rode it on a very short piece of dirt (the rest of the riding was on tar).

I can say that the suspension feels different to the GS and I am confident that it will be even more comfortable touring on gravel highways.

I liked the onboard computer. As a gadget freak I'm sure it will keep me amused for a few minutes on those long straight roads of the Karoo.
