Sunday ride with Volker to Marina Martinique, J Bay, I think four of these are his.

Jip, I know he owns 4 of those beauties.

Guess he prepared them for this weekends R90S gathering.  Can't wait  :ricky:

I thought those heads were Krauser?  :sip:

There were guys who built their own, the boxer became a 165 degree vee twin or similar, for more ground clearance etc.    8)

You must imagine the craziness if you have to alter the head angles because of your lean angles on an old BM.....

A lot of guys racing boxers relocated the front engine mount axle to run either through the middle of the lower frame rails or on top of it. This in combination with slightly longer rear shock(s) would give you an appreciable lift
in the engine department and better ground clearance. The angle of gearbox output flange to the shaft drive would also remain constant so no problems there. The lift in the rear also sharpens up front fork geometry making the bike
more flickable at the expense of a bit of straight line stability. Ask me why I know - still need to get my R80 tappet head covers welded up because I have ground through them.

I’d love to see pics of that you doing that! Doesn’t it lose traction as the tappet covers take the weight?
