Toy Run - road and off-road charity event
« on: November 03, 2011, 10:13:27 am »
This month sees the annual Motorcycle Toy Run! 27th November 2011!
Toys are collected from the biker fraternity to be distributed to less fortunate children around South Africa.

I appeal to all bikers to grab the old, unwanted toys from the kids (right out of their hands!) and bring them to one of your local runs.
Jhb has 2 runs on the day. Road ride is to John Barrable Hall, Benoni and the Off-road is at Dirt Broncos (with lots a entertainment plus an out-ride).
Visit www.toyrun.org.za for the Joburg details.
visit www.toyrun.co.za for other runs around the country, even Namibia!

And its a huge huge event! Expecting around 25 000 bikes in a single day.
Refreshments  ;) plus stage entertainment and lots of stalls to keep you busy.
Entrance fee = ONE TOY (and it doesn't even have to be new!) or educational parcel for children aged 1 - 18

I'll be doing the Cape Town one again this year.  About time we had an off-road version, too.

Cape Town riders should note that the old Ratanga Junction start has moved to Ysterplaat.

Last year, the closest one to Pretoria was from a shopping centre in Zambesi drive, to the Carousel. Otherwise there was the option to ride from somewhere in Centurion through to Nasrec. So just have a look at the websites, I found them to be very informative last year.

Hi there

I am director of Toy Run Gauteng.

There isnít an official Pretoria run, as the guys either join us in the east,

or go north to the official run in Bela Bela.

We have a start from the CMA bikers church in Midrand for the PTA guys,

Or come direct to Benoni Northerns Sports Grounds, for info goto www.toyrun.org.za

Alternately contact Chris Briel for the Bela Bela run on 084 919-5990

Cheers and see you there

The pretoria toy run is on 27 Nov, starting at P&P in Zambezi, running to carousel.
We will be attending.
I will hopefully need a couple of dogs that attend, to help with gifts from my suppliers.
If all goes well, dulux will give a couple (20 or so) dogs where I will add a xmas card and ownership sertificate, and the riders pse for 4 photos, and drop them in carousel.
PM if interested. I will know by 16th if I get dogs.

if it's going to happen, should we not ASAP get it advertised on the official Toy Run webpage?

Maybe, I don't know. Probably. Ok. Where is that?

I am actually just advertising to get bikers in a pic, hopefully one where the wife only has one or 2 fingers to edit out. :imaposer:

I have asked Dulux Paint to give me Fluufy dogs like the ones in their tv ads for me, and other WILD DOGS to give it to the kids at the toy run. So me and the missus will take some toys and other goodies, and hopefully Dulux can give fluffy dogs, I put on a Builders Express t shirt for the pic to get brownie points with the bosses, somebody puts on a dulux t shirt so I get brownie points from dulux,  and the toys go where they will do good.
I can get them for the day with a gazebo where we depart, but that will be a waste, as we get there, talk nonsense, and leave. Will rather save that for a event day if I manage to pull that off.
