I must congratulate the organizers on making the decision to not allow any spectators on the track.  :deal:

The experienced crew members almost got wiped a few times. I heard the recovery crew had a few close shaves as well.  :eek7:

As you can see in my video clips, you cannot 100% control where you are going. And I was going slowly!

Some of you guys are definitely crazy.

At one point I was filming from a bush on the outside of a right hander. I think it was Legadema, who decided to loose control a little bit, exit the track, go the wrong way round me and my camera and re-enter the track on the other side of the bush.

I also have Tau riding like a mad man in a couple of shots. I think if anyone can keep up that pace for 1100km without wiping out big time would have to be a demi-God.

When you've got one eye closed and the other peering into a view finder, it's very difficult to judge distance and speed, which leads to some hairy moments.

Thanks to all those that obliged with interviews.

Thx dude for the takes :thumleft:. I didn't want to leave atlantis, was having so much fun.

Dis moeilik om te se. Dave se XR650R is baie gemaklik om te ry.  :thumleft:

Wat my well baie gepla het was sy GPS.

:thumleft:

Nic that 640 photo's is one of your best!

Well maybe not all that good but I've put it up as my desktop background at work.
Been staring at it for the last 15 minutes just thinking back what a great day it was. ;)

Thanks everyone for an awesone day's riding. The WC guys are the friendliest guys around, and KK and FC + team are the bomb!!!

The event was flawless, including the briefing, route tracking, check point controls and plenty beers bought for me at the end.

When I arrived back at Zone 7 on my crippled antique, the whole bunch gave me a great cheer and clap. Much appreciated.

It wasn't easy on the 500 for various reasons, especially the last 30km with no clutch or front brake!

The WC sand around Atlantis isn't for sissies - deep, powdery white sand, riddled with ruts and tracks. Plus it seems endless. hat's off to everyone who competed, including finishers and non-finishers. As far as I can tell, everyone gave it a full go. Even a couple of km's riding in those dunes would have destroyed lesser men!

If anyone has a pic of me taking the berms Dakar style on the 500, gooi it up on the fred  :laughing4:

Well done to you, J-Dog for completing it on that vintage model :thumleft:

I seriously could not believe it when you pulled in to take part on Sat morning, I thought you were taking FC for another ride  :ricky:

Well done James. I only saw you duckwalk past while we were doing repairs. Haven't seen that in the Dakar yet!  :peepwall:
