As we all live in different areas,we started from different points.
We got together at the Wynlands Engin Garage.Wes (BMW Dakar 650), Jannie (KLR650) and myself (XT660R).
We proceeded to Stellenbosch and met up with Albert (KTM 990 Adventure). On to the Shell Garage at the foot of Sir Louries Pass.
Here we met up with the rest of the guys nameley ; Chris (BMW1200) , Henry (BMW 1200),Paul (KTM 625), Trevor (XR650R) and Christo (BMW1150).
Chris took the lead and off we went to Grabou.Turned right onto the Hi Rising Road.(which has bad rutts erroded in the surface).
We came out at the Kleinmond turn off and went on to Botriver and the Van der Stel Pass.(very slippery clay corners)
Wes had a small off here, blames it on his side stand.Ha.Ha!
Chris, the leader, missed the turn off and Henry volinteered to give chase,he got him back on track so off to Greyton.
Chris ,still enjoying the ride that much , missed the Greyton turn off also, but Henry soon reeled him in.
Greyton for breakfast then.
As all know, there is no petrol available in Greyton. On asking the local resturant owner where the nearest open Petrol station was,he replied,Caledon.
On the way back ,as the gravel ends and the tar begins, there is a small shop and petrol pumps(Open on Sundays)on the lh of the road.At the T-Junction to Caledon/ Villiersdorp,we went our seperate ways.
Thanks guys,great ride.
Andy
