So different to anything we normally experience

6 hours travelling time in the actual saddle. We were on the road for closer to 10 hours, including the Old Chiefs Rd. The gps is turned off for extended stops like breakfast at the top of Sani or when there were repairs to bikes and more tyre changes.

It's a friggin' motorcycle, it's not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The windnoise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you scared every now and then. Suck it up. -- Scary Gary Mc

Khatse Dam is a site to behold. I've never seen anything like it. The dam stretches for at least 60 km. It is really worth a visit. next time we must make time for a wall tour. It really looks amazing.

It's a very long story but Derek and I finally found an Eisbein in Bethlehem

and what would a bike trip be without a new bike in the middle of the trip?

The race itself was amazing. What the riders are asked to do defies logic. I salute all who participated. And those that finished, in any class, are champions in themselves. I was at the Bronze finish when Toni Jardine, the only female finisher, came thru on Saturday - what an achievement.

Chris Birch sitting in the shade of the Mitas tires stand at the end of day one after having won the day. Unbelievably friendly and approachable. Great guy.

And then there's something about motorsport that attracts beautiful women, some in riding boots.

And finally the notice at my lodge that spoke for itself....

I have a whole lot of video from my helmet cam but need to learn how to download and edit it before I can share. Hopefully soon.

Tx Lance - looks spectacular. Yeah, hats off to Toni for doing the Bronze, I heard that it was tougher this year than last year.

Kao mines was a big disapointment !! Someone has been playing there with a grader!
We then took a stunning gravel/tar road past Afriski to near Buthe Buthe!

The guys were too edgy  and went flying across the Caledon river as soon as it came into sight only to realise that we needed to proceed a few kms upstream!

Eventually we found another crossing that although we subsequently learnt was still not the "correct" illegal border, it worked!

The start of the Old Mill route is stunning and we stopped for a quick picnic lunch before the going got tough!

Things got a bit challenging from here as Derek dropped the GS800 and she went to sleep......dead!! We waited and spent about 2 hours fiddling - NADA!
We eventually had to abandon her and walk/pillion him to the top!
