If you have a pre-facelift Dakar you may find this mod interesting..
So you want to tie down a load to the "backseat", but the straps keep on slipping to the back on the tapered plastic "bars"?
I made this mod out of a normal 8mm bolt, welded a small ring onto it, and made a locknut simular to the ones that is supplied with the BMW fittings onto which the side paniers is normally bolted. The locknut need a recess to "seat" onto the metal and not onto the plastic cover!
Also notice that the face lift Dakars does not have this problem as a "gleuf" has been cut into the plastic bar
