3 Souties & 1 Boer doing Baviaans
« on: November 19, 2011, 02:11:11 pm »
This report is long overdue as we did Baviaans during March this year.  We left East London while it was drizzelling from time to time.

I'm not gonna say much - let the photo's do the talking.

Here we are in Port Alfred - from left to right:
JMOL, Kally, Irish & Barry.

After a breakfast at Nanaga, we left for our first gravel for the day via Addo Elephant Park.  As we enter:

Just before the town Addo as we exit.

From Addo we took the tar towards Kirkwood.  My 1st time in Kirkwood - nice place, but it was HOT!!  Very hot.

On the road towards Steytlerville, we saw these:

and they saw this:  :mwink:

Now I also know where these flags are . . . .

I don't know, but . . . . . . . .

As we were close to Steytlerville, we saw an Hotel and thought we must go for a cold one.  We were not allowed as we didn't book in for the night.   ???   ???   ???  So we went to town - the Royal Hotel.

Clean town . . . .

Another windpomp

Nice lunch - by this time we were hungry & thirsty

Good friends & Good food

Some more photo's of the hotel and town.

After the cold ones & food, we left for Willowmore where we stayed on the Finchley Farm.

My Old Trusty "Ou Dikkes"

And we also played  ::)

Our campsite for the night

Showers

Cross on the mountain

Finish with the campsite - now a cold one as we gonna do Baviaaans in the morning  ;D

The night before we had a braai with friends from East London at the main house.  They left earlier the morning and the 4 of us cruised out of town towards Baviaans.  I think 80% of WD members were in Baviaans before so again I'm gonna let the photo's do the talking.

Die 3 Souties  :imaposer:

I cannot remember the name of this "holiday spot".

We entered Baviaans.  What a job.  No stress, no phone, no deadline . . . . . .  But the officials were very friendly.  A big compliment to the staff.

Then as the mountains and the kloof swallowed us in, we were thrown out the other side . . . .

Kally had a puncture!!

This is what you call: Moederloos  :mwink:

After the tyre was fixed, we went to J'Bay where we would camp for the night and heading towards EL the following day.  At Patensie we stopped for the daily Vegetables and Coke.

Our spot for the night in J'Bay

Not all the photo's were taken by me - some of them were taken by Irish - thanks for that Pat.

And so another day ends in Africa.

Thanks to Barry, Pat (Irish) & Roy (Kally) for a wonderful 3 day trip where we shared a lot of laughter and joy.

My English improved very deliciously and I spoke it now with confidence . . .  :pot:

Until Next Time - thanks for reading.

Jaco

Is that a DR650 with a Djebel headlight or is it a Djebel?

Oi - long time dream!
Everyone I come across in cages they bought
they think of me and my wandering
but I'm never what they thought
got my indignation but I'm pure in all my thoughts
I'm alive...

Thanks for posting this JMOL, It was a very pleasant surprise to relive this ride. That 'Djebel" is in fact a Yamaha TTR 250 Raid. What a pity they were not imported into this country. 15 l tank and a range of 360 kays with good suspension and e-start.
