XR 500 RE (ex Butch) in the sand (video)
« on: November 25, 2011, 03:20:45 pm »
Hello there.

Deon, a non WD rider (amageza recovery 4x4) bought Butch's old XR500RE. We did a few checks and fixes, and put the bike straight into the sand.

Deon is one of those guys that can just get on a bike and ride. The bike's dry weight, as confirmed by the Couriers, is 110kgs :deal: That is lighter than Deon's old 125.

He was smiling all the way!

I think the courier should check his scale?

The correct spec for the bike is 108kgs. The waybill shows 110kgs, but Butch sent some extra spares and thingys with, which probably weigh a little over 2kgs.

This was dry weight. Butch drained all the fuel and Oil.

The specs says 27.5 kW. My KLR is supposed to have 33kW. I changed my rear sprocket from 43 to 48, but he still leaves me for dead!  :xxbah:

It can only be the lack of weight.

I think check the spec Honda XR 500 RE 137 kg dry weight on the official brochure & they push the weight & hp specs
that is similar weights to similar era open class mx 2 smokes which were much lighter, that is big old school mill weight was not the biggest criteria

I do not know if the courier's scale is correct, but they need to be calibrated annually, as they use them for resale. :deal:

I cant see the guy from writing down the wrong weight, unless Butch bribed him a bit. :mwink:
