Why so many bike accidents?

This time of the year I find that the vast majority of cagers driving like arseholes. In the last week I have had on average two close calls per day, which usually end up with a cage getting chased down and pks dished out.

I think most of them are speed when it is the bikers fault.....When cage fault...drive kak.

I think you need to add Cage driver error to the poll all the issues here relates to the Biker yet its 9/10 times not the fault of the biker unless he moers off, We DS riders have a tendency to fall specially offroad because we push our limits and enjoy the unknown,

Had a quick dice with a busa this morning. All fine and good.

So we start getting closer to a double line of stationary cars. We were doing about 180kays. Obviously one slows down to a crawl before reaching the cars.

Not this twat, he passes all the cars on the left at the intersection, without slowing down. I thought to myself, what an idiot...

My opinion, loads of accidents are caused by pure stupidity.

Biker error & Biker hasn't learnt defensive riding are the same thing IMHO when we talking commuting. That probably accounts for 80% of bikers down. 19% = biker foolishness. 1% = unavoidable.

If you look at all the accidents where only the bike was involved, I think that starts to paint a picture.

Defensive riding is very important. I see threads and posts all the time of bikers bragging how they leaned their bike over scraping things etc. Obviously those kinds of antics on the road, leave no room for error and most likely we see all those pretty little crosses on the side of the road.

Racing on a track and riding on the road are not supposed to be the same thing.

There are accidents where the poor biker is simply taken out and those make us all very angry and rightly so. Lets help our own cause though and ride like our lives are actually important to us.

I think that unless everyone that voted "Biker hasn't learnt defensive riding" did not vote as a result of his or her own accident that result is meaningless as there is no way you can say that about another person unless he told you so.

  90% of all the fatal bike accidents i attended was the bikers negligence.. speed, poor observation and insight, that being said 99% of fatal bike accidents i attended was SUPER BIKES ( HAIRDRYERS ).

and many, MANY, bike accidents i came across was due to the other driver being DRUNK, on or malicious... especially in Limpopo Province..  people here will intentionally swerve in front of you while you try to overtake... there's no control here

 i have only had 7 ADV bike accidents, only a few broken bones, most of them were my own, but was caused by adverse conditions, or riding too fast for skill level..

Your Xchallenge can do 180km/hour?? Please tell me how you have geared it, I want to do it to mine. I am not being condesending, I really just want mine to move like that.
