Oude Muragie
« on: July 13, 2007, 10:24:43 pm »
A while ago McDuff asked about the Oude Muragie road, so here it is. This is a ride report from March 2007. I never posted it as we left on the epic ride right after this. It‚??s a little ride we did with Eisbein and Captain Slow while we camped at the Cango Mountain Resort during the KKNK 2007.

While in Oudtshoorn we had a little Wild Dog get together where we met Captain Slow as well as Eisbein & Vicky. It wasn‚??t long before we hatched a plan to take a ride the next morning along the Oude Muragie road and visit the ‚??Rus & Vrede‚?Ě waterfall.

So gese, so gedaan:

First stop was at the waterfall.

It‚??s a short walk through the kloof to get to the waterfall, but its well worth it.

The nature scenery is spectacular right up to the waterfall.

You walk along pathways and over narrow walkways along the Kloof until it opens up at the amazing waterfall. It‚??s not so big, but by the time you see it you‚??re very close to it so the height of the fall is spectacular.

This is Outdshoorn‚??s source of drinking water. It‚??s crispy cold, clean and delicious. Captian Slow sampled some ‚?? or was he doing a Golem impression?  ;D

Back at the bikes we took some more photos. Mine are photos of bikes:

Mrs. Eisbein's are works of art:

Well, the rest of the Oude Muragie road awaited and we set out to have breakfast in De Rust.

This road is just a pleasure to ride. The scenery changes and varies and when you ride the road in the opposite direction it feels like you‚??re on a different route.

In De Rust four hungry riders enjoyed breakfast...

‚?¶an each other‚??s company.

Not only was the day filled with spectacular scenery, but we forged new friendships that will last a lifetime. What could be better than that?

Nice !

Thanks.

This was our very 1st contact with any 'Wilddogs' - indeed a pleasant one.

From the moment we met each other at the KKNK I knew that we would spend many happy miles together, as well as stay up late nights laughing and trying to find the answer to life, the universe and everything.

02/02/12 - RIP Glen - the Arrow of Elliot and the little man with the big heart that truly was larger than life.

You have touched us and left us better for having known you - even if it was only briefly.

For grabbing the moment and living the day It's been way too early that you were taken away

When you ride from Oudtshoorn to the Cango Caves you ride through Schoemans Poort. In the Poort the Oude Muragie road turn of to the right / East. The Oude Muragie road ends about 5km South of De Rust where it links into the N12.
