Sampie

On the 16th of December 2011 we, aka Sampie (Skolla), Dawie (Baked beans), Neil and Gus. We took a trip from George, through the 7 passes to Gouna. Headed to Plett via the Wittedrif road, tackled Natures valley, Grootrivier and Bloukraans pass on our way to Stormsriver. From there we followed the old tar road, hitting the gravel we took the Meyershof turn off, heading for Jeffreys via Oysterbay. At Jeffreys we made use of the very nice backpackers accommodation at Mentorskraal.
Saturday morning we took the Klipheuwel road to Hankey, from there we headed for Patensie via the Bakensvlakte road. Patensie served as a pit stop where we filled our tanks, camel packs and stomachs. From Patensie we endured the scorching heat which the Baviaanskloof offers and arrived at our overnight spot “Doringkloof”.
Sunday we saddled the bikes and headed for Willowmore, we again endured the scorching heat whilst fixing a puncture. In Willowmore we enjoyed refreshments and travelled along the Klaarstroom road to De Rust, then pushed on to Dysselsdorp, Herold and back home. All in all it proved to be a very good trip.
