BMW parts Victoria Falls
« on: December 31, 2011, 07:27:41 am »
Anyone know where I might find a head light for BMW in Victory Falls area.  I can run with out it but would like to get it fixed just in case if need it.

Bob, I doubt you have any chance in Vic Falls, best chance is if someone from the Forum may be heading up there from Jo,burg, but the guys would have to locate one first and pick it up today but as its a Saterday and New Years, most places will be closed early today and Monday is a Holiday, so no chance until Tuesday! What is your planned route maybe the guys can send it ahead of you somewhere next week? 8)

Just to clarify, Bob, you do mean the headlight cluster,
not just a H7 55W light bulb?

Which part exactly?
Part no 1 is a US$425 part - even more costly here!

Year of your BMW to ensure match?

Yep, at a guess importing from UK it will be over R3,500 for that light ::)

If Bob's bike is a US model, then he has RH dipped beam lenses.
The ZA models have LH dipped beam.

He needs to borrow one from a wreck and buy a new one back home.

Unless someone has a spare headlight cluster lying around, nothing will happen before Tuesday....it would probably be better to glue the housing together if it is broken, source some perspex and cut your own lens in the front, attach with duct tape, and go... 8) :thumleft:.you will not get a left hand riding lane headlight unit in SA, we all ride on the correct side of the road..... :peepwall:
If you can keep your head in the midst of all this confusion, you don't understand the situation!

finally got to internet, all is well, was just the bulb and was available at Spares (aka parts) house.
It may be for left hand drive which is OK as that is what it will be doing for awhile.

Hi Bob.
Glad to hear it's the H7 bulb - they are generic.
It is the headlight lens that determines the left- or right-hand dip.
Enjoy the rest of your trip !
