CArpStad KTM950 - Black Beast
So, I had a ride too, which I thought was going to be a ride ride, but Leon says to me when we get there, no, its a training ride for the BMW club. To say that my lone Black Beast stuck out like a sore thumb was an understatement. I felt proud to be on my bike, as most of the guys looked on it with a bit of fear and trepidation somehow, while some gave me the "elitist what are you doing here" look

heeh that became all too apparent really quickly.

Sum total of bikes ( with my fave first)

1x 950 KTM

1x HP2

+- 10-15 1150's and 1200's

+- 5-10 F650GS's and Dakars

1 lone lady (WELL DONE!!!!) and the rest, stinky ou boera. :p :p :p I think that as the day wore on in this 30degree heat, we all became stinkier boera.

We rode together to a farm outside Philip where there has been gang revenge killings, even on Saturday. Gauteng can gaan kak, this is gangsters paradise down here........ :?

We got to the farm, Leon did some educational theory for the group, bits and parts and stuffs were taken off the bikes (nice to see others thought like I did when I had my BMW new - there was ducting tape on all the exposed surfaces etc) and we took off. After of course Leon said to the all the lads and lady, take your tyres to 0.6 bar. haha I kept mine to double that minimum, and front at 1.4 (my front OEM rim is made out of fromage)

Some were brand new, some were confident, some were jaag duiwels.

I was there to ride, but Leon the clever bugger, had me there to help    :D :D

Lets just say I have never picked up so many GS's in my life. There was this tall dune, which is a real dune, not like the nonscence in West Beach, and that was a challenge. Quite a few of us made it to the top, but if you didnt know what you were doing, or confident in your lack of sand knowledge, you would run into trouble.

There was this HUGE HUGE HUGE guy with muscles poking out of every bit of his shirt (ex World Body Building Champion he tells us) who rode a 1150GS ADV. Nice guy for sure. It looked like he could pick up that ADV with one hand and do bench presses while grabbing a drink. But even his strength was no match for the sand, and it goes to show its not strength, but technique.

I hit the dune with such speed on one particular go, that my ankle in my fancy bootse compressed to almost touching (OUCH OUCH EINA BLIKSEM PAIN), and at the end of the day, my rear cylinder exhaust BROKE CLEAN OFF

Am I too rough on my bike or something?

My lights blew (from when I went past the casino :D :D :D ) and so I was riding in the pitch black dark with Leons orange lights as my guidance at 140 on the non lighted highway back home. hahah what a jol. Sometimes, quite skeery

So today: 1 x clean off rear exhaust from the exhaust port on the rear cylinder, no lights whatsoever on bike (except for flickers and dash), notched head bearings (time to be replaced anyway) and a new front rim.

Man who said motorbiking was cheap?

Cheers, Lito
