My Dakar is on 40000km and the steering head bearing is going to be replaced the third time now. The first time it gave up after only 10000km, then the useless BMW mechanic re-tighten it, was supposed to replace under warranty, and on a trip to CP got replaced by Haman Motorrad.
Dec2006 it got replaced the 2nd time, 7 months ago, now it's got a notch on dead centre again.
What pisses me of big time, I know on the older models it's a rare problem but it happen, but three times in 40000km on a 04 model? And the dealer tells me it happens on the GS650 range around every 10000km, now that's just absolute bullshit.
How many people here had problems with their steering head bearings?
