My first ride report, so bear with me....
I suppose there must be a dozen RR's of Namibia at the moment, but I'd better write this or else get stick from my fellow riders for not submitting it !
We decided to take a 10 day / two week tour of southern Namibia and just play it by ear as we went along.
The first 5 days or so were planned as to where to stay etc, and the rest worked out perfectly.
In this modern age of big new bikes (bigger is better) I suppose it might seem odd and a bit brave considering my limited experience, to travel 4,400km on a F650 GS (2000 model) fully loaded, with pillion. But what a jol it was. The bike was superb and I must admit having newfound respect for it when we finally got home 14 days later.
Day 1 : Cape Town to Citrusdal (N7 tarr).
Day 2 : Citrusdal to Noordoewer (Bushwacked) (N7 tarr).
Day 3 : Noordoewer to Aus via Rosh Pinah (C13 - 154km dirt, 165km tarr).
Day 3 : Rest Day (day trip to Luderitz : B4 - 250km tarr)
Day 5 : From Aus to Maltahohe via Helmeringhausen (C13 - 105km dirt, then C14 - 137km dirt).
Day 6 : Maltahohe to Sesriem (C19 - 185km dirt).
Day 7 : Sesriem to Swakopmund via Solitaire (C19 - 83km, then C14 - 205km dirt + 31km tarr).
Day 8 : Rest Day.
Day 9 : Swakopmund to Rehoboth via Windhoek (B2 - 356km tarr)
Day 10 : Rehoboth to Stampriet (B1 / C20 - 231km tarr)
Day 11 : Stampriet to Hobas (C20 / B1 / B4 - 322km tarr, C12 - 107km dirt)
Day 12 : Hobas to Ai-Ais via Canon Roadhouse (62km dirt)
Day 13 : Ai-Ais to Noordoewer (Aquacade) (C10 - 73km dirt, B2 - 108km tarr)
Day 14 : Noordoewer to Cape Town (N7 tarr).
We started off 22 December from Cape Town.
