We got that itch! You know that one that can only be scratched by taking a ride. We quickly put an overnighter together. Bluesteel, Ironman, myself and The Frans who fears no one. It was Friday 9 Dec 11 and we met at Bluewater Bay. Bluesteel did a last check of the Yammie's oil level before we headed off to Kinkelbos.

We could not wait to hit the gravel and get off the ugly black stuff.

It was The Frans's first trip with us with luggage and it took only 7kms of gravel to teach him how gravel road loosen your stretchies.

It was a beautiful day on the gravel road following the Woody Cape coast line. Plenty of dairy farms so it was not long before we came across the local animals. The typical gentleman we are we made way for them.

The road narrowed down and made for beautiful scenery and a lekker feel of being out in nature.

So where are we going to? We are on out way to Fort Beaufort to head over the Old Katberg Pass to Adelaide and back to PE. The pre-requisite for the trip is that we must ride as little as possible black stuff. So we take the gravel and weave in between farms on teh way to Salem. The shopping centre was a buzz....NOT! Only thing buzzing there was 17 brommers around a fresh cow pie.

From Salem we continued looking for gravel on the way to Grahamstown. We needed to make up some time and the weather looked a little like rain so not many pics were taken on this stretch. Rolling past the museum outside Grahamstown we rolled up to a SERIOUS road block. The boere had guns, plenty guns! The vehicle cued but we smiled friendly inside our helmets the the first 3 of us made it through. Who had to stop behind some cars? The Frans who thought he feared no one :) Suddenly he experienced some severe anxiety as the man was not legally authorised to operate an brute 2 wheel machine on a public road theough he had much experience and never crossed swords with the law. But the road angel was with him and on his turn they waved him past to join his law abiding friends waiting for him further down the road.

We topped up with fuel in G Town before hitting the gravel again to take some backroads to Fort Beaufort.

The GPS told us that we will be doing all the way gravel to Fort B'fort but oi vey a farmer decided that we are not to cross his property and travel through what appeared to be a very scenic valley. We had to cut back for about 5kms befor taking a diversion and hitting some of the dreaded ugly black stuff to Fort B'fort.
