Zonkie, cut your ties and go. Live your life like you ride your bike, look through the visor and not in the rear view mirrors. Buy that GS you always dreamed of. As we discovered together in Namibia, life is a journey and not a destination. We wish you well and have no doubt you will succeed. Besides which we need a place to stay when we there :D

Thanks Rich, I do realize the climate will take it's toll. I HATE cold weather. But, I will not stay there as the plan is to do a journey for 5 years.  I do not know what the future holds. And who knows, maybe I just stay in sunny ZA.

I am not convinced yet. Irna wants to stay and the kids do not know what we are asking and me, well, I am not convinced that it would be a smart move. Rather would like to move to the West coast and do something there. But we will see.

And where the hell do you come from?  ??? GS my dream bike? You must be drinking those funny stuff again. There is only one bike and besides, you can not fly if you don't have wings.

How old are your children?

When I was 15 (standard 8 in those days) my step-father, mother, self & 2 younger sisters moved to Guernsey (4 older step brothers & sisters stayed behind).  I probably have Asperger's syndrome (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asperger_syndrome) which means I am a loner.  I believe it was very disruptive to my personal relationships - I have no friends from my school days.  The rest returned to SA within 2 years but I stayed on as an apprentice & only returned after being away almost 4 years.  My younger sisters (half-sisters actually) have no personal relationships problems associated with the disruption.

All I am trying to say is you  need to be aware that you may need to make compensations for the disruption to your children's social life & social development.

Congrats Zonk.  In case you haven't make sure you have a work visa.  A Green Card is not a work visa, it just entitles you to live in the US (and it is not green either  ;) )   The work authorization form is I-765 costing the tidy sum of $340

Looks like they increased what they charge for filing forms as well.

 :laughing4:

There's an idea.

I heard on the radio the other day of an "Water Bar" somewhere in the US. Crazy prices for bottled water and per glass. They even discuss/guide you on which water to take with what type of meat.

A shebeen with 750ml Zamelek's might propsper. Zamalek goes with any dish or something like that.

I beg to differ.  There are lots of places people still make moonshine in the south.

Zonk leave the bike with me, I have space.
I'll take it out every few weeks to warm the oil, keep the battery on charge.
