Not sure if anyone else picked this up on E TV News this evening...
In Jakarta, where according to the TV footage, looks like they have thousands of Scooters on the roads, the Riders there, besides having to dodge Cars, Trucks and other Motorcycles, have to ride through "nail traps" on the Roads.
Apparently these "nail traps" are hand fulls of 2 - 3 inch nails thrown into the roads by Bandits wanting to rob the Riders and/or by Tyre Sellers trying to speed up the sales of their products.
Now they even have "volunteers" sweeping the roads with magnets attached to brooms to try to collect as many nails as possible and remove them from the roads. One volunteer, if I heard correctly, collects over 30 kilograms of nails in one evening...!
Heaven forbid that these "nail traps" raise their head here in SA...!
