Yes, I have read all previous posts about this, I need to know if anyone did this, who they used, cost, time etc.

Give Greg Webb a call - zero eight 3 425 7770 or Oscar - zero eight 3 416 3725.  Both was (is still) used by Aprilia SA to transport their bikes.

Hi Surf

I think I saw an ad in the Bark SA for a company that trailers bikes  ???

I'll check at home tonite but remember seeing a BM on the trailer in the ad.

However I have not dealt with them before.

Not a bad price...

I'm thinking of doing that for a motorcycle holiday to Graskop and the rest of the eastern transvaal.

Put the bike on a trip to JHB, book far ahead at a cheapskate airline (R1200 return fare for me and Vicky), arrive at the same time as the bike and go on a holiday. Drive back to JHB and put the bike back on the trailer and us back on the airline...
The bike can get more days off more easily than what I can...

Thanks for finding out about it.

W.

I've also read on flamesonmytank.co.za that they sent the bike via train and also travelled on the train.

Here's the FlamesonMyTank article link.  Think the cost is R 750 for the bike if you also travel by train.

Makes sense if one only has a long weekend to ride, say Sabi for example, and doesn't have two days either side to ride a bike from Cape Town to GT and back.

R1200 is not a bad price either.

Great info, thanks. Will come in handy on the future.

Cheers

I have been after a F650GS for my wife.  Missed the ones in Cape town but there are several in Gauteng.  This makes them real options.  Thanks.

And watch out who you use to transport the HD. Just4kix sent his bike down yesterday from Pretoria and a holding strap broke on the way. Luckily it was the inside strap and the bike fell over onto the trailer.   :o

But if a HD falls off a trailer, who will care?   >:D

Make sure you see a copy of the transport company's insurance cover. Sme may cart for cheap...but have limited, or no insurance..... ;)
