I just had a phone call from a Riding buddy and friend of mine. Him and his wife were riding up Sir Lowreys Pass in the Left hand lane this morning when they went through an diesel spill while in a turn. The rear wheel spun out and they came off. He seems to be Ok, but his wife , Suzette broke an arm and may have back injuries after hitting a barrier on the side of the road.

He rode the Varadero to hospital behind the ambulance.

Please guys be carefull. I have seen numerous diesel spills in the Somerset West area lately.

Sorry to hear I hope they are ok, always try to stay out of the left lane on S/L Pass as trucks & buses often spill diesel on they way up from full tanks.

I have just spoken to Jan again. Seems Suzette is badly hurt. She has a cracked pelvis and has just suffered a severe stroke. She is not doing well.

For the religious among us, please pray with me for her healing and recovery.

Speedy recovery.

Me think these coppas need to drive around more on the road, than sit in the shade with a bloody camera :deal:

Went with Buff and a friend to Ceres and through Bainskloofpass, there was also diesel spilt all up the way. Lucky for us, we could smell it and see the trail.

Not a good thing :o Cant do anything when you hit a patch ???

Hell, hope she is going to be ok......It really makes my blood boil when these truck drivers don't care if their fuel is leaking, they have no idea how slippery the roads become.....same when they lose a tread, just leave it in the road.....I have often stopped where they are replacing the wheel and karked them out for not collecting the piece in the road.......sommer phoned the truck owner on occasion when the driver gives me lip....
If you can keep your head in the midst of all this confusion, you don't understand the situation!
