Roof of Africa 2012
« on: February 28, 2012, 10:51:04 am »
We are a few guys planning to do the roof this year, not sure if it is a good idea but what the heck.

As accomodation in Lesotho is such a issue, talking B&B ect we thought best to stay in Ladybrand and go in and out everyday.

My only concern is if the border hours, does anyone have any details or experience concerning this matter.

Border hours ect

Hope anyone can help

thanks

You have to be at the starting line before 6am, kitted up and ready, usually an 30min to an hour's drive from Maseru. We get up at 4am in Maseru. I guess it's not impossible then, but you'd have to get up at 3h15?

Maseru border is open 24hours so you shouldnt have any problems.
The only issue might be you get there 3:30 and for some reason there is a delay of some sort.

Their phone number is: 051- 924 4300 just to confirm the hours.

Guys thanks for the replies.

I think for the roof the border will be ok as they get plenty of tourism in.( or hope so)

Unless you are sponsord there is no way to get place to stay in Maseru, unless you have a uncle or family.

But we must get bookings in

What if I had never tried it

It was about R 1300 - 1400 Per night per room sleeping two people....Its expensive but well worth it because you are right where the results are showed and you can eat right there at the hotel after a long day of riding and go straight to bed without having to drive anywhere  :thumleft:

Just spoke to Lesotho sun they still have a few rooms left...but they haven't decided the roof rates per room yet,SO YOU WIL PROBABLY STILL GET A ROOM FOR A WEEK OR SO  :thumleft:

NR is 0026622313111    Ask for Lipalesa she is the only one doing the ROOF BOOKINGS   :ricky:

Guys thanks for the info

PEET WEET we are booked and payed at the queens hotel. I see its right next to the Lesotho sun, or in that area ( AS lesotho sun is on a koppie).

At R 314 per night, we booked the whole place.

Thanks again :ricky: :ricky: :ricky: :ricky: :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:
