2012 Renegade ride report and Pics.
« on: March 04, 2012, 06:06:43 pm »
Thanks to everyone for joining me on this ride. Did not take many pictures myself due to religious reasons but feel free to post yours.

For me the two highlights of the weekend were the route and the food......

The lowpoints were the weather and the 2 damaged bikes....but Ill leave it to them to tell the story.

A big heads up to Sam, second time on dirt and she handled the route like a pro...must have been all the collective advise the other dogs gave her...

This ride turned out just as I imagined it....Great people having a fabulous time in a beautiful environment.....

some pics...

Think there must be 2 reports...one on the ride and one on the food....

Roll over Ursula Andress, Halle Berry, we have our own in the shape of (Sam) Haplo. Johannes made real sure that nothing went wrong with THIS river crossing.
The dog that caught the car. What now?

Thanks to Chicco for organizing a fantastic weekend and for leading us on such a fantastic route to Tattenham. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and look forward to the next one. Thanks to all who joined for making it such an event to remember.

I have a few pics to share, nothing special though and no action shots since I spent most of my time relaxing at the back of the pack. The only video I took appears to have some misting on the lens due to the conditions but I will try my best to edit it and post to youtube, but once again not much to see at the back of the pack.

Here's my little album...

Ready To Ride
All packed and ready to ride.

Salt Rock Caravan Park
Our early morning meeting at the Salt Rock caravan park

1st Smoke Break
After chewing some dust for a little while the group stopped for a much needed break

Local Shabine
Our original meeting point for another one of the Dogs, we arrived way too early, probably had something to do with the pace of the leaders ;)

Another Break
Taking a little break in the shade of some trees along the route

Slippery Grass
After a minor spill for Haplo we took a much needed break to allow us to replenish some electrolytes and catch our breath

Ultimatum Tree
The Ultimatum tree, thanks to Haplo for the history lesson, I never even knew this place existed.

Arrival
Our arrival at Tattenham resort. The 3 of us skipped the last 30 kms of gravel in favor of a tar route to allow us to nurse the clutch on one of the bikes which was almost completely gone.

Dirty but Safe by
The bike looking a little more dirty than it was when I left

Lister Generator / Pump
This old 16L 3 Cylinder Diesel Generator / Pump had a place of honor in the communal Dining Room / Lounge.

Check the size of that flywheel...

Controls
Check out the old school controls on the Lister. the Rotating dial had 3 settings, Stop, Start & Work. There was a massive compressor nearby to supply the 500PSI required to start this beast.

Gauges
Old school gauges and a needle & paper based rotating temperature dial

Pressure Gauge
The pressure gauge on the reservoir bottle connected to the Lister

Flywheel
Check the thickness of the steel on that flywheel. Unfortunately it was no substitute for the broken clutch on one of the bikes :(

The Pub
Sitting around the pub at Tattenham trading stories and jokes

Sunrise
Sunrise over the lake

All the Ducks in a row
The local Ducks having a morning swim

Feeding Time
We tried to coax the ducks with some stale bread but they caught onto our ruse and stayed well clear. It seems the WildDogs reputation is well known in these parts.

Beemer Down
One of the bikes miscalculated a corner approach and decided to test the crash bars..... Test SUCCESSFUL :)

The Prawn Shack
The Prawn Shack was buzzing and the approaching weather front from Cyclone Irena didn't dampen anyone's mood.

All The Dogs
Check the classy tables hastily assembled by our host Pumi who took an instant shine to one of the group ;)

The View
Our view of the ocean from the wobbly plastic chairs at the lunch table

Trail Boss
Our esteemed leader giving us the Low Down :)

Haplo aka. SAM
Sam finally eating something more substantial than  a grain of rice. You'll need lots more of that pasta to get those thin little arms and legs strong enough to pick that 650 of yours up ;)

Gunda and Haplo
Gunda Gunda and Haplo leading our group for a walk down to the beach after the 5th of 9 courses of our lunch. We all needed that walk desperately to make some room for what was to come.

River Mouth
The river mouth along our walking route

Waves
Check the current pushing into the river mouth. Cylcone Irena was starting to make its presence known.

Clouds
The sky was looking pretty ominous at this point and it was time to hightail it back to the Prawn Shack for more food (and a little drink for some)

Kawasefi
Kawasefi warming himself with some Rum in a tin cup ...

Pumi
Pumi was giving us all a stern reprimand for ignoring her instructions to wet our feet in the water. We gapped it back before she could find a stick to persuade us with.

Ready for the next course
All seated and ready to consume yet more prawns and other exotic delights

Bonovo
Bonovo was really attached to that beer :)

Prawn Cocktails
Tequila with live prawns being prepped for the brave

Brave Dogs
Said Prawn Cocktails about to be consumed, looks yummy.....NOT

Bottoms Up
Ready. Steady. GO....

Disgusting
The look on Bonovo's face says it all. Prawns just aren't meant to swim around in your mouth.

Thanks Chicco for all the planning, and thank you to everyone who came for the ride, it was really enjoyable and looking forward to the next one. The people that were there, made the weekend what it was, which was amazing!

Yes... it was my bike that was one of the ones that broke down, the clutch went after it had just been rebuilt 1000km earlier. NOT COOL!!

Here are some pics I took
