Calling Wilddogs to map all of Africa's mammals
« on: March 09, 2012, 12:57:02 pm »
Dear Dogs,

UCT is running a new science project called MammalMap an initiative to map all of Africa's mammals to assist specie conservation.
We are in a unique position in that many of us travel the remote roads and some even lucky enough to trek into the great continent. Thus we can help a substantial amount in such a project.

All that needs to be done is to submit a photo and the location the ADU website. http://vmus.adu.org.za/

If you have any questions or would like to chat with those running the project join the facebook group http://www.facebook.com/groups/204298239617083/.

If you know of fellow travellers or friends who have taken photos of mammals anywhere on this continent, please let them know.

*UPDATE*
Or add your photos to this thread, with a google map coordinates/link if you don't have GPS. The coordinates do not need to be 100% exact, but obviously the closer the more useful the data will be :)

I'll first post my contribution here:

Homo Sapiens, Chapmans Peak.
The brisk wind played with the little dress, lifting it up ever so playful to reveal the red bikini.
Let's go into the mountains...there's likely to be peace and quiet

Hello fellow dogs,

To simplify the process I have created an email address: wdmammals@gmail.com

Please just send the pictures of any non domsticated mammals with their location to it, I will upload them for you.

These pictures will strictly only be used for the MammalMap project, they don't need to be perfect shots(can also be roadkills), just of good enough quality to identify the mammal. Anything from shrews, to elephants thanks  :thumleft:
