Flat batery again! We had to tow start the Dakar, but once we got going, everything went ok. Everyday we are amazed by the spectacular roads and scenery. We reached Cape Agulhas, the most southrnpoint on the African continent, at 2pm. All the bikes had almost no tread left on the rear tyres, so we decided to head for Stellenbosch, where we had organised for new rubber.

Day7- We spent the day fitting tyres and fixing things. Herman from
Stellenbosch Motorbikes helped us out by organising tyres in record time and making his workshop available. All bike shops have a thing or two to learn from him about service. We have also  been treated to top class hospitality by family, and was very grateful for a place to stay. The weather turned against us, so we are expecting a wet ride to Springbok.

Herman is a good chap. He used to work on my bikes when I was at Stellenbosch and sometimes he'd let me use his workshop if something small needed doing which he wouldn't be able to get round to doing within a week. That's the problem if you're the only half decent motorcycle mechanic in town...

Great ride and report guys. Very jealous!!

Day8- We left Stellenbosch in horrible weather. Near Ceres it was raining cats and dogs and was very cold. The road to Calvinia was spectacular , but a strong side wind strained our necks. A total of 480 km was covered to Loeriesfontein.

Hellhound .......been wanting to ask you:

I see in your avatar a pic of a KTM, but no KTM in any of the tour pics?

Do you aspire to ride a KTM, or have you seen the light? :D

Just joking.

From the pics it seems as though the weather has cleared?

Day9 - We had a woonderful time in Loeriesfontein with the locals. Once again it was overcast with drizzle  in the morning, but it cleared as we left the mountains. Most of the roads were wide and open with the accasional muddy patch. We were able to reach Alexander bay, the most western point in South Africa , around 5pm. We then headed east to Brandkaros, next to the Orange river, where we camped for the night.

Day10- Aahhh, the most bautiful leg of the trip so far. From Brandkaros we entered the Richterveld communal concervernancy to Vioolsdrift, then we took the Namaqa 4x4 track to Goodhouse. It was the most bautiful track I have ever ridden . - Leo, the KTM is in the gerage, it was the BMW's turn this time.

Day11- A long leg, 660 km from Goodhouse to Van Zylsrus. A lot of sand on single track roads. Plenty of close calls, and a Duiker as a trophy for Eugene, but unfortunately  no time to eat it. We are back on track time wise, but the next couple of days it is going to hell to make the distance.
