Eventually the time has come to start the final bit of preparations for the 4Corners tour. It has been a lot of sleepless nights dreaming about the tour and I think the last couple of days before this Friday, is going to be the worse. But firstly an intro to the tour.

It started out as a tour around South Africa's border/coast, taking gravel roads where possible. But due to time constraints, it was decided to do the four compass corners of South Africa. A route was planned linking the 4 corners with the most direct gravel routes. Our journey will take us to Kozi Bay in the east, Cape Agulhas in the south, Alexander Bay in the west and lastly Musina in the North. We estimate the distance around 8000 km of which more than 90% will be on gravel.

In total 5 bikes will undertake the journey, 3 x BMW Dakar's, 1 Honda XR 650 and a 1150 GS Adv. Support vehicles will only be present on the way from Pretoria to Ntendeka forest, near Ngoma, where family and friend will join us for the Easter weekend, and then again from Musina to Pretoria. The rest of the journey will be done the good old way, biking and camping. Departure date is the 14th of April, doing the easter bit as part of our Easter weekend, then leaving for the southern bit on Monday the 17th. We hope to be in Musina on the 27th of April, where we will stay for the next long weekend, bofore returning home.

This site will be updated during our trip , wherever we can get cell phone reception, including pictures. We will also be shooting some video footage, which will be made available after the trip. It will also be the first time we will be using a helmet cam, since riding whilst taking pictures with the other hand led to some tight situations.

Now just for some final prep and then we are ready to go.
