Earlier we saw what was done to The Square. The rest of Main Street(now Govan Mbeki) went the same way. It used to be a great place where we spent our childhood. Sugar Bush, Hastings Sports and Tackle shop, where I used to drool over the knives, OK bazaars with its little cafeteria where my mother would buy us an ice-cream if we behaved.
I sat there a while dreaming of the Good Old Days, remembering the little side streets running down to Strand Street. Could never as a child figure out why one of them was called 'PIEL' Street. Later I found out it is 'PEEL' Street.

This is it today. The city center died when businesses moved to Newton Park in the seventies after the free-ways were built. To get people back they tried to modernize and rejuvenate it. FAIL.
