JUST REALISED WHAT HAD HAPPENED  :lamer:

I cleaned up my Image Shack file the other day not aware that it would also delete the pics off the forum. Fukkit.  :dousing:  Wonder how many of my other RR's got wasted.

When I have time I'll sit and fix it. EISH !

I remember something good burgers for R2, as big as you could hold with two hands and full of delicious stuff.

We could go out on the town for R5 and get three beers and a SG burger, plus have 50c left over for a litre of petrol in the bike.

Was ook nogal geintereseerd daarin, maar daar was niemand om mee te gesels nie. Lyk soos 'n tiepe DIY 'skimmer' boot wat gebou is vir spoed, maar dat dit dalk nie 'n sukses was nie.

Hello Jupiter,

"Naais fred"  :thumleft:

Jislaaik, I also grew up in PE. Left in 1987 to do National Service and never stayed there again. However, since I still have family there, I visit from time to time.

Have you ever considered riding out from Uitenhage to the Groendal Dam? Plse post pictures if you have. That used to be our holiday uitkamp - with tents in the bush, very informal - in today's terms actually squatted there, between the bosluise. Had special permission to fish bass in the dam, since my grand farther was verlangs familie of the care taker - oom Eddie.

Memories!!

We've tried riding there but they only allow the bike as far as the offices. Beautiful place, but I'm too lazy to walk.

Pity, very nice scenery. Anyway, do enjoy the riding.  :ricky:

So how have things been. its a while since I posted... no excuse really. You all know about the lots of rain we had, so this morning I took a ride to look at some.

1. Sea View Rd is a new lake and its going to be there for a while.
2. Lake Side is a permanant lake but usually just a pool of water.

Both are going to be at this level for a looong time. The ground is completely saturated and there is nowhere for the water to drain.

Some time ago I showed you pics of the outside of the Feather market hall after it was restored. Its a place that holds many happy childhood memories for me as I used to play around in it in the days my father stil played table tennis.

Its main feature is the magnificent organ. Last night my daughter, Kayla, had her Ballroom dance compitition there so I got a chance for some pics.

A lot of people know where the Feather Market Centre is but I bet very few have seen the very impressive organ that adorns the front of the main hall.  The concert hall pipe organ was inaugurated in June 1999 and cost R2,6m at the time.  The organ stands 14 meters high, 10 meters wide and 4,5 meters deep, weighs 20 tons and has 5508 pipes.  Pretty impressive.

The organ was designed by Prof Albert Troskie, built by local organ builder Jan Pekelharing and is a combination of old and new.  The nucleus of the organ consist of the old 1892 Norman & Beard organ which was situated in the adjacent Shelly Hall.  The facade of this organ is still visible in the hall.  In addition to this the pipes of an 1880 Forster & Andrews organ from Durban was installed along with a significant number of new stops.  The rest of the organ is all new with the organ facade's decorated wood carved panels taking ten local woodcarvers two years to complete.  The organ gets used in at least 9 recitals every year by both South African as well as international organists

A beautiful day as only Autum can be in PE. Went for an icecream at Hobie beach and also got a pic of the now completed Boardwalk Hotel. Very impressive.

Thanks JUP/ That organ is most imnpressive. But what I really appreciate is the architecture. Bean a mechanical and electrical minded person, I really appreciate these facets.
