My birthday was on Thursday and my wife surprised me with a boat trip on the Kowie River at Port Alfred.  The trip was booked for Friday and Saturday.

We couldn’t wait, and Thursday all were packed, the fresh produce was to be purchased in Port Alfred.

I planned to take a scenic route via Coombs to Port Alfred.  It was raining during the past week and I was a little worried that the weather would put a damper on our planning’s, but Friday arrived and things looked promising.

We were on the road again, packed and ready for the weekend.

The turnoff to Coombs is about 20km before Grahamstown.   The last time we did this route, which was more than a year ago, we were pleasantly surprised by the amazing scenery on this route, and this time around it was once again worth doing it.  One day the Slumdogs and the PE dogs should do this route together on one of our monthly rides.

At the turnoff.

We reached Port Alfred quite early and decided to have a brekkie at the Spur, thereafter we would buy our supplies and then book in/on the boat.

There is our boat.
