We had a function to attend at Darling at 14h00 and as it is the time of the year and it is the month of the Women I decided to add something special for my Super wife, so I thought I would take a quick ride through the West Coast Nat. park to see the flowers.We left Durbanville through the Vissershok rd and hit the black strip all the way , what a pleasure with very little traffic and no wind to worry us.We arrived at the park and I quickly realised why there was no traffic , everybody was here already and it was like Adderly st. on a Saturday morning.
First stop:

Stretched our legs and found these all around:

We then went further to the gates of Posberg which they open once a year for the public during the flower season and we were in formed that bicycles and motorcycles were not permitted to proceed through this section, I assume as there are large Antelope in the area ??We really enjoy this park as you have the sea on the on one side and the Lagoon on the other , this is the lagoon side "Kraalbaai":

Time was now running out so we headed back down the black strip and onto Darling. We eventually rolled up home at 18h00 totally relaxed after a super day out and recommend the ride for those who enjoy the flowers.

Very pretty piccies there.

Me and SWMBO also did the West Coast today (up to Velddrif), but the sun wasn't up so the flowers kept in hiding.

Nice report. Are bikes always allowed in there? Are you allowed into the 'private' part at the end - I mean are there areas where cars can go but bikes can't?

Hi TT The area where they do not allow the bicycles and motorbikes is the "Posberg" (this is right at the end which borders the sea) where there are large antelope, this area is only open to the public with motor cars once a year when the flowers are out.

Beautifull keith. Really stunning out there. Combine pretty flowers,pretty bike and one pretty wife- you truely are one blessed soul. Enjoyed these moments.

Stunning... did the same yesterday.... met an American lady at the Sushi bar at the waterfront on friday and decided to show her the flowers on the most perfect day of all... before she went back to the US. Saw lotsa scoots... and strained eyes for the Wilddog logo's' none were noted and although we got the pics... were in cage so not going to add more than one... just with the lovely visitor - who was needless to say really impressed with the flowers!

We do have a beautiful country ... don't we?
