Photo of your kid that you DONT want
« on: April 13, 2012, 08:47:02 am »
Ok, so we laugh about it now but at the time I shat myself.

Nick is new to bikes and only got this KX85 at Christmas. He had been flying around the tracks for hours building confidence and getting to know the bike. I think he got a bit windgat and pushed it too far. The jump was a double and the he came down on the second bump which caught him off guard. The result can be seen.

He ate a lot of dust, scratched his new helmet, got a few minor grazes but the worst was his chest protector pushed in under his rib cage and winded him. He lie there unable to tell me what was wrong, gasping for air. I kakked myself.

Bike got some scratches and the throttle was jammed. All fixed now and both bike and Nick are ready to go again

Subie, I know how you feel. My other son, Michael (14) was killed in a cycling accident last year. That is why I kakked myself so much. But I cannot wrap Nick up in cotton wool and not let him live life to the full, especially as I ride.
Best I can do is buy the protective gear, teach him as best I can and let him have respect for machine and environment.

Sorry for your loss too, we are members of the worst club in the world along with HtB and ZAR and Im sure some others here.

Slaaiblaar, did your youngster keep his teeth? That landing just looks like it's gonna hurt... a lot  :o
