Short trip for the long weekend
« on: April 13, 2012, 11:05:27 am »
So we have decided to do our first trip together for the Easter weekend.  All excited, I have managed to pack 4 days clothes for the both of us in one backpack  and could almost not go to sleep on Wednesday night (4 April 2012).

Thursday morning arrived and we headed off to work to finish a few things at the office, and finally 12 o'clock have arrived  ;D
And so our journey started

We had some petrol "problems" before we could hit the road, but Wortel sorted it out quick, quick.  :)

So off we went, taking the N1 for a quick top up on the petrol tank and headed towards Du Toitskloof Pass, taking the scenic route over the mountain.  We made a stop at the top for some photies.....

After our stop in Rawsonville, it was one long ride (well  it felt long as my feet was hurting by then, not being so ride fit like hubby) till we at last stop at the first, best place to get a drink, Robertson Dros.
After our first longer trip together we were about 20km from our destination for the weekend. After finishing our drinks we headed towards Ashton.

We went to the old "hangbrug" in Montagu West, they are currently renovating the old wood bridge to something quite nice after all these years.

Realising it's rugby time we decided to head towards Robertson (30km back) to go watch the Stormers game, unfortnaly the place was packed and no TV's were available for viewing inside anymore, but like they say "'n Boer maak, 'n plan" and indeed they did

And then it was Monday once again, heading back home we had a coffee at a farmstall between Robertson and Worcester for the cold weather, made a last stop Du Toitskloof Lodge again and arrived safely home in Durbanville.

Was a great expierence and looking forward to our next trip  :ricky:

These hills are quite fun. The up part is really easy and fun. You just point the bike's nose in the direction you want to go in to avoid the loose rocks, open the throttle, and there you go. The roads at the bottom, leading up is a pleasure, but it gets sort of different on top with all the loose stones.

Riding down later is a bit of a different story. Especially if it starts to rain. But it all worked out fine in the end.
