I've looked at that 1 as well.  Looks like you can strap it to the grab handles and connect the petcock directly to the tank vent.  That way its removable and will drain directly into the tank.

First prize would be to make a bracket so it can be taken of for shorter rides and fitted for longer trips, do you think the subframe will take the weight of the 5Lt ?

I did the Amageza with a exstra 8.5L on the back with tools etc, and my sub-frame mounting bolt (left side) broke off. I only discoverred it on the sunday (2nd day) with about 50km left to the finish. After I thougt about it, it allready broke to Saterday on the special stage, because the bike was moving around as soon as I went into n corner, and thought it was the extra weight, until I discoverred this.

Keep the bike as light as possible at the back. I will not put more than 5 kg's at the back again. Also replace the bolts if you think of doing this.

hope it helps.

I thought it was made by Acerbis? http://justgastanks.com/index.php?cPath=149_150

Everybody should have upgraded the subframe bolts by now  :laughing4:

This solution is not cheap, the tank with the mounting bracket is about R1400 per side. I like the one gallon size (3.8 Liters) as I can choose to carry one or two depending on the ride. With both attached by my calculation At a consumption of 20 kilo's per liter ( dirt roads and technical rides I believe this is realistic.) I should get 350km,s with 2 liters reserve.

My experience with all the Namibia trips I have done a range of 350km's is okay. Obviously you have to manage your fuel and not ride full taps non stop.

I hope to do a long ride as soon as I have done the 1000 km service. And see how it works out.

This way is a lot cheaper than the rally raid solution and leaves me with options.

This is my setup and it works perfectly, increases range to around 300km + reserve which means you now have the range of the 950/990's.
The tank does not affect the handling at all, and best of all it keeps the bike narrow. If you are just cruzin around town, you don't need to fill it but when it comes to longer rides it comes in handy, it is all connencted to the original tank and drains together, unless you close the tap then you can drain your original tank first then swith to the auxillary tank  :thumleft:

Direct from RR about R320 Pounds supplied , but then you must fit, Alfie says about R5K supplied and fitted, i am sure you can get a bracket, or just order that footpeg"leg" to fit it.

The kit comes with the rear rack which replaces the 2 rear grab handles, the rack has it's own grab handle as you can see, which works well for lifting the rear of the bike, this kit does use an adaptor block which is advertised seperately on the Rallye Raid site, the adaptor block fits to the bottom of the original tank and forms a junction point for the 2 tanks to drain from...
