The bike has 84000km on it, comes with topbox and crashbars. Would you buy this bike and what should I look out for if I'm interested?

Hi,

Not sure about the value for money (sounds okay actually), but here's a thread on some stuff to look out for.

http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=9651.msg131755#msg131755

(Hope the link works - first time I've tried pointing to another thread!. If not, topic subject is "Second-hand R1150GS(A) - what to look for?" under Bike Related Banter.)

I do not think that dying is a good idea.
Living doing something that you love is a good idea.
Living until you die is a good idea. If living happens to kill you it means you made a mistake, but we are human, and humans make mistakes, so go for it, enjoy it, live until you die, rather than not living for your whole life.

Is it silver?

Bargain price IMO, but rather buy mine 30000km less on plus lots extra for 10k more. ;D

It's blue. Blouvark, your bike is also tempting. I haven't really budgeted for another bike yet so I'm not sure if I'm going to go for either option. Just gathering opinions at the moment.

That is a hellova good price.

I just have to ask myself why it is so cheap.
If you know the full history then it should be fine.

If it's been in a prang it might not be.

Here's just thinking out loud, so don't mind me too much:
If it is at a very good price and its got scratches and dings and such it does feel like all is out in the open. It also gives you something to point your finger at and know why it is cheap/reasonable.

If it is perfect (paint job and everything) - then the cynic in me always asks : What's being hidden ?

It might be unfair though - if it is someone where you know the history and they just want to be nice to you (or someone in need of an urgent sell) then it should all be well.

I always look at it like this: If the available bikes/cars/whatever ranges from say R55k to R80k, I tend to look at the middle of the range. If you get one for R55k it might be towards the bottom of quality as well , where 80k will get to be a little too much.

But, again, that's just how I feel about it.

Might be a bit cynical to always suspect the worst.

IMO the tide is turning a little and there are bikes a plenty for sale
Surely some are feeling the pinch of higher interest rates..

It's all about supply and demand.
Ask Blouvark.

I am a bit more cynical than what is good for me sometimes.

I know that the prices have come down recently (maybe I just don't want to come to grips with it as that will admitting that my bike is now overpriced as well - I paid R50k for it in Feb...)

:D ;D

Ag well that's unfortunately just the way things go.

We shouldn't be so stubborn as to believe that mcycles never depreciate.
On the best days it's still a kark 'investment'..

Unless you only use it to commute  (which a Vuka might do as well) it effectively remains a luxury item. :'(

Show us a pic of the bike. Sometimes if a bike looks tatty, you can squeeeze some money off the price.  If it is in very good condition, sometimes t pay a grand or two above book is also not a bad thing.
