Are all BMW riders Handicaped???
« on: May 02, 2012, 11:56:32 am »
My family and I were in Oudtshoorn this weekend and we passed a lot of riders I know there was a get together in Grahamstown and was under the impression that some were on their way there. I was also thinking that BMW has done so much in advancing the DS cause and that a lot more responsible and influential people now ride bikes as a result. The impression of the public is slowly changing to the good and a lot of this is because of BMW.

While buying supper at the Pick n Pay I saw this. It made my blood boil. I can just imagine what people thought of us DS riders.

This is just not on.

We partake in a past time that handicaped people can only dream of.  :'(

I cannot think of any excuse that can make this right.

Please this is not brand bashing. I would have posted this regardless of what bikes were in the bay's. I just think they should know better.

You sure each of them had 2 legs and 2 arms. Maybe they considered themself disabled because of brain capacity  :protest:

Comment 100% valid but once again a perfectly worthwhile thread loses all credibility because of brand bashing generalisation in the heading - FFS, how the hell can you think that 3 riders represent "All BMW riders" ? You could just as well have said "Are all DS riders handicapped?" or "Are all GP riders that have top-boxes handicapped"  :xxbah:

In many parking lots those signboards in front also include the notification:

"STUPIDITY IS NOT A DISABILITY"

"Us" BMW riders should by now know it's going to draw a lot of flak doing something stupid like this - from whoever.

I so hope the same guys have somewhere during the weekend done something to change some people's minds about "us" - for the better.

No but. Joe soap walking past would have thought exactly that. It can only be thought of as brand bashing here on the forum, if you will but the public would generalize as BMW riders, DS riders or if you must GP riders with top box's. This type of blatant disregard is hurting us all. No matter what you say.

Ignorant Gautengers - in this case...
BoosterPlug, LED Spots, Tool Tubes, RustStop, Kappa Screens, Top boxes, Tank Bags, ATG Gear - whatever works for me.

Maybe, (what would you suggest?) it is posted as such because my wife who is not a rider at all first noticed this and her comment was look at those BMW riders. I think this that's how some of the public would have seen this. A sad day for us all.
