Harleymonsters bike is a Japanese spec DR250, 1995 / 1996 model if I remember correctly. This may explain the 31mm carb she has. The bike however is excactly the same as the later DRZ 250 models as well as the 250 Djebel, so carbs from those models should fit.
Yep it's a Jap. spec DR250RS. I am sure there will be info on the www but it's all in Japanese

As far as I found out there was a TM28 fitted to the DRZ250 and most likely to the DR250RS Export models too (if they ever were experted new???) The TM31 seems to be specific to the Jap. model.
Since the TM28 isn't really expected to be less temperamental or longer lasting than the TM31 I recommended to look for the Djebel 250's BSR32 CVcarb.
Whilst the CV by principle has a slight disadvantage looking at throttle response (mostly theoretical, a pumper slide carb has to be set up 100% to outperform a CV and throttle response on modern Jap. big bore CV's has impoved vastly over a 1970's BMW's Bing's) and flat out power (the CV's butterfly valve and shaft restrict flat out flow) it is vastly superior in everydays use as it is much less wear sensitive and CV's also often return better fuel economy.
Remember she wants the Djebel's BSR 32 (that's the one with the round lid containing the slide diaphagm on top) not another worn out TM31
